Alyssa Farah Griffin Served Under President Donald Trump’s First Term Before Becoming A Permanent Fixture On The View

Griffin first became a permanent co-host on The View in 2022 during the show’s 26th season. She previously appeared on the show the year prior. In 2024, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award due to her work with the show.

Prior to this, Griffin served as press secretary for U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and special assistant to President Donald Trump from October 2017 to September 2019. This was during Trump’s first presidency, before being reelected as the 47th president, starting his second term in 2025. Over the years, she has often discussed her time as part of the Trump administration on The View.

Recently, Griffin recalled an unusual conversation she shared with Trump on her first day at the White House. Taking to X, she noted that he once asked her about the “H” in Jesus H. Christ.

According To Griffin, President Donald Trump Had His Own Explanation For The Expression

Griffin wrote, “Hand on my heart, my first day at the White House, Trump asked me if I knew what the ‘H’ stood for. I said no. He said, Horatio.”

While it seems like a simple question, Griffin admitted, “I think about that at least once a week.” She paired this with a crying face emoji.

There are many theories as to where the expression “Jesus H. Christ” comes from. In Greek manuscripts, Jesus is written as “ΙΗΣΟΥΣ,” which can be shortened as “ΙΗΣ,” leading to an English transliteration as “JHC.”

Over the years, various explanations, some tongue-in-cheek, have been given for the expression. This has included “Hallowed” or “Holy.”

With Griffin’s recent share, various commenters have weighed in on the story. A few were especially curious about the president’s alleged choice of a name. Some comments included:

  • “I… absolutely believe this. But why Horatio?”
  • “Sigh… why is this completely insane and yet entirely realistic.”
  • “What a time to be alive.”
