Maurice Benard Previously Shared That His Daughter Cassidy Was Trying The Knot Earlier This Month
For many, Benard is best known for his work on General Hospital. He has played the character of Sonny Corinthos since 1993, a character initially intended to last for a few months on the soap.
In addition, Benard also hosts a mental health podcast, State of Mind with Maurice Benard. Thanks to this, he often interviews a number of his soap opera colleagues.
Recently, Benard announced on social media that his daughter was getting married to her fiancé, Anthony Cammarata. Not only is he the father of the bride, but he also shared that he would officiate the October 16 event.
Since then, Benard shared a video of the big event, complete with flower girls and a ring bearer walking down the aisle. As he wrote in the caption, “My baby girl is married to her Prince Charming. My speech may have not been perfect, but it was from the heart. It was truly a beautiful day.”
Benared continued, “There’s nothing I would’ve done differently. You can always feel weddings with love in the room. I’ve been to many. The heart doesn’t lie. They have definitely found their soulmate and in this life that means the world.” Benard also credited his General Hospital co-star Marcus Coloma for the editing.

The video opened up set to Peter Gabriel’s “The Book of Love.” However, fans could hear Benard’s voice as he began to perform the ceremony. Just as he was about to finish the pronouncement, Cassidy cut in to make a note to her father.
The actor explained, “No, that’s after, baby.” He then teased, “She wants to kiss him really bad, I guess.” After that, Benard officially pronounced the couple husband and wife, with the two sharing a romantic kiss.
