Consisting of 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and, more recently, its sequel 2023’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the award-nominated action-adventure series beginning five years after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, has been a hit with players.
Developed by Respawn Entertainment, the story follows Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, who finds himself becoming the target of the Galactic Empire and is hunted across the galaxy by their Imperial Inquisitors. As such, he must survive, and try to rebuild a fallen Jedi Order.
As for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, our very own Kyle Gratton awarded it an impressive 9/10 in his review, and believes that “Cal Kestis Becomes One of Star Wars’ Best Heroes.”
“Those who enjoyed Fallen Order will likely be enamored by Survivor. It takes the often rough foundation delineated by its predecessor, smooths some of the rougher edges, and builds it into a much more expansive experience that tells a more complex tale. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a shining example of how a rather insular story can still explore multiple eras of the Star Wars timeline without becoming convoluted, while simultaneously coexisting with the wider, legendary setting under the Galactic Empire.”
With both entries being met with critical acclaim and multiple award nominations, it is no wonder that fans are hoping that the third, and final, entry will live up to its predecessors. Whilst we already know that a third installment is currently in development, details surrounding it remain scarce, but with a 2027/2028 release window rumored, it will not be long before we head back to a galaxy far away and pick up where Cal left off.
However, in the meantime, fans have been asking a very important question over on r/FallenOrder: “What title do you think the third game will have?” They continued, “What do you think the third installment will be called? Since it’s the final game of a trilogy, I imagine it’ll be something big and epic sounding, maybe using some title buzzwords like Legacy, Legend, Shadow, Destiny, etc.”
With almost 70 comments racked up, it is safe to say that fellow fans have their own thoughts, and amongst the “hilarious” suggestions, there were some interesting suggestions. One said, “Jedi Knight or something kind of epic would be cool, but I think it has been used for other games and wouldn’t quite work with the existing naming convention.”
Another added, “I’ve called Jedi Temple for a few years now. I think the foreshadowing of Cal looking at the temple at the start of Survivor is a hint the third game will require visiting there,” whilst a third suggested, “Jedi Revenge. It would be cool as a play on the original “Revenge of the Jedi” title and also to reflect Cal’s development.”
At the time of writing, Respawn has not confirmed what the third and final entry in the Star Wars Jedi trilogy will be titled, but if it is anything like its predecessors, we are in for quite a treat when it eventually launches.
