Emily Simpson’s marriage to Shane Simpson has been on the rocks for quite some time. Although they have tried to reaffirm their love, it has never lasted long. Now, it appears that everything could be crumbling for the RHOC star amid Shane’s constant need for validation. Keep reading for more details.
Shane Is Desperate For Tradition
RHOC viewers have often wondered what Shane and Emily Simpson are doing together. They seem to be polar opposites, as she is very social and loves to have a good time. However, Shane is an introvert; he does not drink, as he is Mormon, and does not appear to care for noise. This is interesting, especially after seeing his mother, Pary, on the show. She is loud and fun, always having the best time no matter what she is doing. Shane finally passed the bar exam in California, meaning he and Emily could both be practicing attorneys. He was working, but has since become a stay-at-home father to tend to their three children.

One of their sons, Luke, has a plethora of health conditions, so that has been a struggle for the couple of almost twenty years. However, Emily shared that Shane had wanted a traditional wife who stayed at home while he worked, which is what she thought her role would be:
“This is not how I envisioned our life at all. Shane’s very traditional. What I envisioned was he was working, and my role was mother, caretaker, be at home. And Shane always said to me, ‘You can not work, you can work full-time, you can work part-time … that’s up to you.’”
Now, Shane is at home, while Emily is working and filming, but he is desperate for validation. That seems to be one of the hardest parts of their marriage and the possible downfall. Emily Simpson shared that having to constantly thank Shane for what he does is exhausting:
“I’m working, and him needing appreciation, it drives me nuts. I have to wake up every day and be like, ‘Thank you for taking care of your children?’ It’s a lot of feelings.”
In It For The Long Haul
Shane and Emily Simpson are in therapy, so they claim they are in it for the long haul. However, followers feel that the RHOC star is the cause of many of their problems. That she needs to focus her energy elsewhere and is not being a proper wife and mother.

Finally, viewers made it clear that they are done with her on the show and would be happy if she left:
- How’s about giving viewers a long overdue break after 8 seasons – and put Mean Girl, Bully, Emily on a permanent pause.
- She can lose all the weight in the world, but she can’t seem to lose that nasty attitude. She always talks about everyone’s life, saying that things don’t add up, neither does Shane staying home after finally passing the bar.
- Oh Emily, you lose weight and your outfits are fit for a 13 yr old. Shane appears to be a good guy and you appear ungrateful. Time to spend more time with your family and take a break from Housewives. Family first.
