Stargate is truly one of the most fascinating sci-fi series in media history. While Stargate was originally going to be a trilogy of films, that plan was eventually scrapped, despite the original’s box office success.
While there was talk of a sequel set over a decade after the first (complete with a new mythos that wasn’t Egyptian), those plans never really happened. Instead, we got Stargate SG-1 as an official continuation, albeit with some alterations and details changed.
Then came Stargate Atlantis a few years later, which cemented the series in the sci-fi pantheon and helped kickstart Jason Momoa’s career. Now, all these years later, there’s another thing to celebrate, thanks to an announcement from Master Replicas.
Launching in December 2026, Master Replicas is offering a Stargate SG-1 Serpent Guard Helmet Desktop Replica, described as “the first in a new line” of desktop replicas for the Stargate series.
Here’s all the info we have from the initial announcement:
This is the first in a new line of detailed Stargate desktop replicas, reproducing some of the most iconic props from the classic TV series. This is a beautifully detailed replica of the helmet worn by Apophis’s Serpent Guard. As befits the Serpent god, the helmet is designed to look like a cobra. The Serpent Guard was made up of Apophis’s most trusted Jaffa and for centuries they were dedicated to serving him.
That began to change when Apophis’s First Prime, Teal’c, turned on him and joined SG-1. The replica helmet was digitally sculpted, based on careful study of the original props. It has been cast in polyresin to ensure a high level of accuracy, before being painted. The helmet is the perfect size to sit on a desk or shelf and is just under 6” (15 cm) tall when displayed on its bespoke stand.
For reference, the Serpent Guard are a memorable aspect of the series and are part of the Jaffa force that serves Apophis, a System Lord who succeeds Ra.
A ton of Stargate replicas are coming out in the following months, including the iconic Jackal Guard helmet, as well as the Destiny Gate replica, Thor’s Ship Bilskirnir (this one is a die-cast model), the Atlantis ZPM light-up replica, and Ra’s Pyramid from the movie. There are also more ships on offer, including the Destiny Starship and the Prometheus X-303.
Also note that while the Serpent Guard replica is slated to ship before the end of the year, plans could change due to the current state of global logistics: “Although we do our best to ensure our estimated arrival date is as accurate as possible, this is a provisional date and therefore is subject to change as we receive further delivery information from the supplier.”
Stargate remains a firm part of sci-fi pop culture, in part because the premise really resonated with fans out of the…gate. The movie may not have made the 5th Avenue bar as famous as Reese’s Pieces from E.T., but its legacy endures to this day, especially since it involves memorable actors like Kurt Russel and James Spader.
