Barbra Streisand’s Health Has Been A Concern
For several decades, Barbra Streisand has had an incredible career. Not only is she a ten-time Grammy Award winner, but she is also an Oscar winner. Moreover, she is a coveted EGOT winner, meaning that she has won a Grammy, Oscar, Emmy, and Tony, which is a huge accomplishment. Barbra recently performed a tribute to Robert Redford at the 2026 Academy Awards. Unfortunately, viewers were shaken by how off she sounded and worried that she had fallen ill. As it turns out, she is not doing great.
The songstress was set to appear at Cannes to accept the honorary Palme d’Or, but has had to cancel her trip. She was due to make it to France by Friday, May 23rd, but it was her doctor’s “advice” that led her to stay home. On May 17th, the 84-year-old icon released a statement explaining what was going on:
“On the advice of my doctors, as I continue recovering from a knee injury, I am sadly unable to attend the Festival de Cannes this year. But I am deeply honored to receive the honorary Palme d’Or and had so been looking forward to celebrating the remarkable films of the 79th edition.”
Furthermore, Barbra Streisand shared how sad she was that she would be missing time with her “colleagues” whom she loved, respected, and admired. Finally, she had to express how much she loved France, but she did congratulate all of those who are a part of Cannes.
It is unclear how the performer hurt herself, but fans have been worried about her for quite some time.
Is She Okay?
Aside from her physical ailments, followers cannot help but wonder if Barbra Streisand is completely okay. After she sang at the Oscars in 2026, she had a lot of people shaming her. Although they were happy for the rare appearance, her voice left little to be desired:
- I cannot fathom how anyone could celebrate such a terrible performance. That is the worst voice I have ever heard on television.
- I loved Barbra’s tribute but it was bittersweet for me given the condition of her voice. I know, we all age if we’re lucky, but what power that voice had in her prime.
- Her singing sounded like an old donkey being put down. She may have had a good voice decades ago but she sounded AWFUL.
