Television

Today Show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, was seemingly abducted on February 1st, 2026. She is still missing, and no one knows where the 84-year-old is. That being said, her television family has rallied around her in every way possible. This includes Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones, who co-host their own hour. They recently opened up about how they live in Savannah’s trauma, and it is unavoidable. Keep reading for more details.

Savannah’s Trauma Cannot Be Ignored

It has been four months since Nancy Guthrie was abducted, and the family is still searching for answers. Savannah Guthrie returned to work on the Today Show in April 2026, and some were shocked she would do so. They assumed she would stay in Arizona and continue the search for her mother. Yet, she knew that her life had to go on, and that meant diving back into work. Fortunately, she has an incredible support system with her colleagues, including Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones. They have all been there for each other through the good and the bad, so they stood strong when this happened.

Jenna and Sheinelle shared why it was so vital to keep talking about what Savannah was going through on their show. They noted that she is their very close friend, so to act like she was not going through this trauma would be a lie. In fact, they were all suffering together, as a family, Jenna explained:

“Every day we were thinking about [Savannah]. How could we not talk about it? It was what was happening off camera.”

As for Sheinelle, who joined Jenna Bush Hager as her co-host after the New Year, she noted that it helped to minimize things in her life. Normally, she would be far more vain, but that was all pushed to the side with concern for Savannah:

“In any other matrix, it would’ve just been about us and the show. But we didn’t have time for that. I didn’t have time to worry about my hair or whether I was being funny. Real life was happening.”

Gratitude Forever

Savannah Guthrie is extremely grateful for all the love and support she has received from her fans and colleagues. They have helped to make this horrific time much easier, even though this has been an incredible nightmare. Sheinelle Jones and Savannah bonded when the former’s husband was diagnosed with cancer and subsequently passed away. The Today Show family rallied for Sheinelle and her three children, and that has taken them through this tragedy. Many were unsure if Sheinelle would want to take the job next to Jenna Bush Hager, but when the time came, she was ready and raring to go.

Do you think that Savannah’s trauma is a forever bond for the anchors? Finally, do you believe that Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones have helped make this journey easier for Savannah? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
