Florida may soon elect Marshall Clayton Rawson — a Republican, White nationalist supporter who supports the execution of LGBTQ+ people — to its state legislature.

Rawson has a long history with the League of the South, a white nationalist group that has been certified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in 2000 and the Anti-Defamation League since 2018. Rawson also marched in the 2017 “Unite the Right” white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Rawson has been photographed holding a Confederate Civil War battle flag alongside a sign that says, “Support Christian marriage,” and holding another sign that says, “God sanctions marriage. SLPC should not.”

On August 31, 2023, Rawson reposted a CNN story his X account that mentioned two men in Uganda facing the possible death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality.” Rawson commented, “This is how you would run the pervs and miscreants out of Florida…. A one way ticket to no more sexualizing of children and the lgbtq+ agenda in Florida!”

Rawson is expected to win election in his district which leans heavily Republican.
