Grimes and her partner Elon Musk have welcomed their first child. Congratulations! The healthy boy is named X Æ A-12 Musk, according to a tweet of indeterminate sincerity by the father. He also shared a photo of the child’s face emblazoned with extravagant tattoos and eyelashes. Pitchfork has emailed a representative for Grimes requesting clarification on certain details.
Musk’s lowkey announcement of the birth came late last night in a Twitter thread about a Tesla testing controversy.
He continued the conversation in a separate thread.
At the request of a follower, he shared a photo of himself (in an Occupy Mars T-shirt) cradling the baby.
In early January, Grimes posted a photo of herself on Instagram that appeared to reveal her pregnancy. She shared another photo later that month, but didn’t confirm the pregnancy until January 23. Grimes and Musk publicly revealed their relationship in May 2018, when they attended the Met Costume Gala together. Her new album, Miss Anthropocene, arrived in February.
