Game of Thrones fans are waiting patiently for the next season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, HBO’s new hit spin-off series that adapts George R.R. Martin’s beloved Dunk and Egg novellas. The first season was adored among longtime fans and hailed as a refreshing adaptation of the franchise that harkens back to strong character-focused storytelling in HBO’s early Game of Thrones days.
Season 2 is officially set to debut sometime in 2027 and will adapt The Sworn Sword, the second Dunk and Egg novella, which follows Dunk and Egg into the Reach as they become embroiled in a bitter dispute between Ser Eustace Osgrey and the formidable Lady Rohanne Webber. While HBO hasn’t pinned down a specific release date, it’s one of the network’s most anticipated returning series, and fans are eager to see Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell officially return as the legendary Dunk and Egg duo.
That said, if you’re growing impatient for season 2 and want to get a jump on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the upcoming release of The Bald Boy Squire is the perfect remedy (via GoTL).
The beloved Egg officially returns ahead of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 in a brand-new Game of Thrones: Legends release of a legendary Champion titled The Bald Boy Squire. Starting September 30 at 3:00AM eastern, Egg will be available with a new skill caled “I Would Not Leave You Ser” that turns him into “an unwavering guardian for your squad.”
Landing a Critical Heal allows Egg to cleanse harmful debuffs while granting Block to protect his allies. Whenever a teammate receives a Critical Strike Chance Buff, Egg passively heals the entire team and if an enemy lands a Skill Critical Strike on an ally, Egg retaliates by setting that foe ablaze with Fire.
Egg’s new Champion abilities are just the tip of the iceberg for what’s coming in September for Legends, with two other new Champions scheduled to arrive and several unique events on the way as well. Melisandre, The Red Woman is officially available now as a new Champion, with Joffery Baratheon Protector of the Realm on the way on September 16.
September will also usher in two new Summons featuring Lyanna Mormont in The Lady of Bear Island as well as Ned Stark in The Hand of the King, alongside various other iconic characters from the original series. Players can also look forward to four recurring events this month: The Battle of the Bastards, which runs now until September 7, House of the Dragon on September 9, Battle of Blackwater Bay on September 17, and Assault on Rook’s Rest Quest on September 24.
Overall, it’s shaping up to be a great month for Game of Thrones: Legends players, and if you’ve never had a chance to check out the game, it’s a free-to-play mobile RPG from Zynga that comes highly rated on both the App Store and Google Play, and it features rolling content updates with familiar legends from across all the major Game of Thrones series, including the original show, House of the Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
