Anti-trans activist Riley Gaines, who has dedicated her life to trying to ban trans women from women’s sports, mocked a recent WNBA game she attended as being filled with “a bunch of disgruntled lesbians.”
Gaines made the comment during an appearance on Fox News, where she said she attended a game in Minneapolis featuring the city’s Lynx versus the Indiana Fever.

While complaining about the “disgruntled lesbians,” she said she wouldn’t expect anything else in a city like Minneapolis, which is known as a progressive haven. Gaines then said she believes “the WNBA, as a league, organizationally, they recognize that.” It’s not exactly clear what she meant by that, but it seems she believes the WNBA should know better than to listen to its lesbian fans.
She then complained that anti-trans Fever player Sophie Cunningham was repeatedly booed throughout the game. “It felt like they had been advised to only put people on the jumbotron who were draped in their trans flags,” she said. “We here know, and the general public knows, that’s not indicative of real life.”

Gaines was slammed for criticizing the type of women in the women’s spaces she allegedly wants to protect and also for being surprised that gay women are a core WNBA fan base, indicating that perhaps she doesn’t actually know or care all that much about women’s sports.
