Moon Studios (the folks behind the Ori series) has announced that their upcoming isometric action RPG No Rest for the Wicked will launch in Early Access on PC via Steam on April 18. The game will see a full release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series at a later date.

Published by Private Division, No Rest for the Wicked was first revealed back in December of last year. The game takes place in 841, where after the death of the king, rumours begin to surface about the return of a great plague known as the Pestilence. You are a Cerim, a member of an ancient sect devoted to vanquishing the plague. You board a merchant ship to the backwater Isola Sacra to investigate the source of these rumours. While en route, a rebel group known as the Risen seizes the ship and leaves it to wreck itself on the shores of Isola Sacra. Fortunately, you survive the wreck. As you find your bearings, you end up caught between a vast political struggle and a fight for survival.

No Rest for the Wicked will feature “brutal, precision-based combat”, where fights in the game are animation-driven, direct, and tactile, allowing skilled players to combine strikes with a variety of moves, where skill and timing is required over simple “button-mashing.” You’ll also have the ability to enchant armaments with runes, craft rare armor, and create character builds that fit your playstyle.

No Rest for the Wicked features a painterly art style with a variety of locations in Isola Sacra, such as underground crypts, lush forests, and treacherous mountain passes. Each location is home to complex protagonists with their own problems, hidden treasures, ferocious creatures, and secrets. The game will also feature a multiplayer mode (which will be added during Early Access) with up to three other players. Every quest, boss, and square foot of Isola Sacra is yours to share with others…or you can simply venture off on your own.
