Taylor Swift Ushered in Her Single Era Wearing These Sleek Under-$150 Mary Janes

Fashion & Style

Let the record show that there is nothing more powerful than a single Taylor Swift. Amid the news that the singer parted ways with her boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn, Swifties have been reeling from the unexpected breakup. Just four days after news broke about the surprising split, Taylor was spotted looking as gorgeous as ever exiting an NYC restaurant—and it just might be the best darn post-breakup outfit we’ve ever seen.

Being the Easter egg hunting fans Taylor has created, it’s hardly a surprise some people believe the “All Too Well’ singer was sending a subtle message hinting at a “rebirth” with her sartorial choices, which included an off-the-shoulder black top, paired with AREA jeans featuring a cutout bejeweled butterfly, and chic patent leather Mary Jane slingback heels by Sam Edelman.

And although the butterfly detailed jeans seem to have stolen the show from her latest appearance, I’m focusing on the sleek shoes she waltzed past the cameras in.

If you’ve been following any Eras tour content, the majority of the heeled boots Taylor has been wearing on stage are glamorous, attention-grabbing, and full of sparkle. The footwear is the perfect match to her incredible unitards and other fab ensembles she struts around in.

Now, I’d like for you to step in Taylor’s shoes for a sec—news of her relationship has been making headlines, her TikTok FYP is full of Swifties freaking out and putting flowers on Cornelia Street, and she’s very aware that everyone is waiting for her next move. And what does this mastermind decide to do on her night out? Wear an on-the-surface casual black top and jean outfit that packs a punch and says everything she needs it to with just a few accessories.

Returning to her 1989 era roots, Taylor’s love for vintage glam is highlighted by her Paco Rabanne handbag and these Sam Edelman heels. If the saying goes, “These boots were made for walking,” these pumps were made for slaying (I won’t apologize if you found that cringe-y).

With a pair of simple and sexy black slingbacks, Taylor is signaling that she’s in control of her next move, all while simultaneously (and effortlessly) drawing attention to the fact that she is absolutely glowing. The heels themselves have a lil chunky buckle and ankle strap for an added gold rush. (How many more song references can I sneak in here…)

Although the rest of her outfit is on the pricier side, and therefore, out of the majority of our budgets—these Sam Edelman Mary Jane shoes are more in our lane, ringing in at $140. In addition to the black colorway, these beauties are also available in navy, gold, and beige.

What can we say? The woman has the red lip classic and knows exactly how to stay in style—even when dealing with the aftermath of a breakup.
