Billie Eilish Rails Against Texas Abortion Law at Austin City Limits: “My Body, My Fucking Choice”

“When they made that shit a law, I almost didn’t want to do the show because I wanted to punish this fucking place for allowing that to happen here.”

During her headlining set at Austin City Limits 2021 on Saturday night, Billie Eilish took a moment to speak out against Texas’ restrictive abortion law, which was enacted last month. “When they made that shit a law, I almost didn’t want to do the show because I wanted to punish this fuckin’ place for allowing that to happen here,” she can be heard saying in the video below.

“But then I remembered that it’s you guys that are the fuckin’ victims, and you deserve everything in the world,” she said. “And we need to tell them to shut the fuck up.” Eilish then raised a middle finger and screamed: “My body, my fucking choice!” Watch it happen below.

The Texas law prohibits abortions after six weeks (when many women are still unaware that they are pregnant), does not make an exception for cases of rape or incest, and allows private citizens to sue anyone assisting a woman in obtaining an abortion.

Phoebe Bridgers recently shared a cover of Bo Burnham’s “That Funny Feeling” to benefit Texas abortion funds. Eilish, who has previously spoken out in support of Planned Parenthood, released her new album Happier Than Ever earlier this year.
