Even Arnold Schwarzenegger Mixes Up Chris Pratt and Chris Evans

Pop Culture

If you’ve always struggled to differentiate between the four Hollywood Chrises, it seems you’re not alone, as even Chris Pratt‘s father-in-law Arnold Schwarzenegger recently mixed him up with fellow Avenger Chris Evans.

During a virtual Instagram telethon for the charity GreaterGood, Pratt introduced his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger‘s father saying, “Our next guest is Mr. Universe. He is the Terminator, he is the former governor of California, he is my father-in-law, my daughter’s grandfather. In a word, I better not screw this up or I will be terminated. There’s a lot riding on this.” When Schwarzenegger joined the chat, in what was perhaps a deliberate attempt to lighten the mood, he greeted Pratt by saying, “Hello Chris Evans,” before quickly correcting himself, “Not Chris Evans, sorry. I’ve screwed up this whole thing right from the beginning. Chris Pratt.” Pratt laughed off the mistake as the former governor apologized again, saying, “Sorry about that. I should know your name, that’s for sure—you’re my favorite son-in-law.” Pratt jokingly replied, “I’m your only son-in-law! I better be your favorite.”

The Terminator star’s slip of the tongue comes two months after filmmaker Amy Berg kicked off a minor controversy when she revived a years-long Twitter tradition of asking her followers to debate which Hollywood Chris “has to go”—forcing people to choose between Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, Chris Evans, and Chris Pratt. Despite this hypothetical being a mainstay of social media discourse, the tweet prompted Pratt’s wife, brother-in-law, Patrick Schwarzenegger, co-stars Zoë Saldana, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, and Marvel film directors, Anthony and Joseph Russo to all rush to the actor’s defense. Pratt finally addressed the debacle himself on his Instagram Stories late last month, making light of the whole affair and joking that since he beat both Evans and Chris Hemsworth in their fantasy football league, “I guess we finally put an end to that debate…Who’s the better Chris?” Before adding that “it’s one of them,” although he does have them both beat “in body fat content…I am more buoyant. Take that, gang.”
