Lil Nas X has shared a new song called “Holiday,” his first solo single since he released his 7 EP more than a year ago. Produced by Take a Daytrip—who collaborated with the rapper on “Panini”—the song comes with a shiny, Santa-themed visual treatment. The teaser featured a cameo by Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox. The video—which is set on Christmas eve in the North Pole—finds Santa Lil Nas X overseeing his team of robotic elves, riding around in a slick red sled pulled by robotic reindeer, and donning a number of futuristic looks. After finding viral superstardom with “Old Town Road” in the spring of 2019, Lil Nas X released his debut 7 EP last June. He and Billy Ray Cyrus won a Grammy for their “Old Town Road” remix, and Lil Nas X performed the track with “Rodeo” at the awards ceremony in January. He released a new video for “Rodeo” with Nas at the beginning of February.
More recently, he’s made other TV appearances, popping up on The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo and the Punk’d reboot for Quibi hosted by Chance the Rapper. He was invited to join the Recording Academy in July along with Ozuna, Gunna, Victoria Monét, and others.
