Madonna has been forced to cancel the final dates of her Madame X tour due to coronavirus restrictions.

The two remaining dates of her tour, March 10 and 11 in Paris, have been scrapped after French authorities barred gatherings of more than 1,000 people as part of their response to the outbreak.

“Following official notification from the Office of the Police this morning prohibiting all events with an audience attendance of more than 1000, Live Nation regrets to announce the final two Madame X performances previously re-scheduled to 10 March and 11 March are forced to be cancelled,” reads a message on Madonna’s website.

“We regret the disappointment to fans,” it adds, advising that those who bought tickets will be able to obtain a refund at the point of purchase.

The disappointing news comes after a gruelling tour plagued with last-minute cancellations due to the 61 year-old singer’s “ongoing injuries”.

Combined with production issues, these health concerns caused her to cancel a total 18 out of the 75 planned stops on the tour, including two other shows in Paris on March 1 and 7.

“If only knees didn’t twist and cartilage didn’t tear and nothing hurt and tears never fell out of our eyes,” she previously wrote on Instagram. “But alas they do and thank God for this important reminder that we are human.”

Despite her injuries, reviewers have said the show was among Madonna’s very best, with the singer making good on her promise of an intimate, up-close-and-personal experience.

With COVID-19 spreading across the globe, dozens of major music festivals, tours and industry gatherings have been put on hold as health officials scramble to contain the virus that has infected more than 105,000 people.

Among the major events that have been put on hold are the SXSW Music, Film and Tech conference, Ultra Music Festival Abu Dhabi and Miami, and Tomorrowland Winter.

Tours and shows by Queen, Louis Tomlinson, Yungblud, Mariah Carey, Maluma, Green Day and BTS have also been postponed until a later date.
