The GBI and APD are finally back in action!
Will Trent is finally back, and they’re bringing all the things we love about the show: action-packed cases, high-stakes, drama, and hints about Will’s past.
Luckily for everyone, we’ve got an exclusive sneak from the Will Trent Season 3 premiere, which teases the newest case, friction between the GBI and Will, and a relationship between the suspect and Will Trent. Welcome Back.
When Will Trent Season 2 Episode 10 ended, Will arrested Angie for her part in abetting and leading to Crystal’s downfall. Shortly after, he left with Betty and left Nico the house to stay in.
His decision affected several of his relationships, and we’ll likely see how the team’s lack of Will’s presence affects it in this much-anticipated premiere.
When two off-duty cops are wounded at their captain’s BBQ, Amanda says the GBI and APD will team up on the investigation, with Faith leading the case
With Will gone, this allows Faith to shine as she learns a local gang might be sending a message. As you’ll see in this exclusive clip, confronting the gang leader doesn’t go as planned.
Faith (Iantha Richardson) is calm as she talks to Rafael Wexford, the lead suspect. While the rest of the team was horrified that there was a gang hit in the middle of broad daylight, she treated it like another case.
While Faith has always been a badass, she hasn’t always had a chance to lead a case, so seeing her negotiate was refreshing.
Unfortunately for Faith, Rafael Wexford refuses to deal with her. He will only talk to Will Trent.
That could be a problem because no one has heard from Will in months, but they need him to solve these cases.
Obviously, Will will return since the series wouldn’t exist without the lead character, but what drama awaits him?
Since Faith and Amanda haven’t talked to him in months, they will likely feel betrayed and hurt that Will hasn’t reached out.
Amanda may handle it better than Faith since she sympathizes with Will and likely will be the one to appeal to him to return.
Faith has always wanted Will to open up more and will likely be hurt that Will didn’t.
Her pride may be hurt that she couldn’t solve this case without him, so there may be friction for the first time among them since the series premiere.
Additional spoilers tease that Will returns to help solve the case. He’s drawn to the past as he works to clear his friend’s name amidst corruption.
That hints that Will and Rafael Wexford are old friends, and we suspect he’s another foster care acquaintance. They often pull his friends from there.
We can’t wait to see how they know each other and what new secrets we’ll learn about Will’s past.
It wouldn’t be a Will Trent season premiere without action-packed drama, and this one has that for all our main characters.
Please check out the clip below, and let us know what you think about the latest case and your theories about how the lead suspect knows Will.
