General Hospital executive producer, Frank Valentini has broken his silence on whether or not the role of Michael Corinthos will be recast. It has been played by Chad Duell since 2010 but he just announced his exit from the soap. So, will someone come in and take over as the fourth Michael? Keep reading for more details.
Frank Valentini Breaks Silence On Chad Duell Recast
Early on Saturday, November 23rd, Chad Duell took to his Instagram to share he was leaving General Hospital. He has played the role of Michael Corinthos since April 2010 and was the third actor to play the role. Since he took it on, he has become a fan favorite and even won a Daytime Emmy. Sadly, he had made the tough decision to exit the role, breaking the hearts of fans:
- Oh no not another person leaving. Good luck
- Nooooooo. There will never, ever be another Michael. 😢😢😢
- I’m so sad I’ve watched you grow up. So much heart and talent. I’m sure you will do amazing things on this next journey.
GH fans are currently mourning the loss of Kelly Monaco and her character, Sam McCall. She was fired after over twenty years with the show and then, Sam was killed off. Viewers want to know what will happen with Michael now that Chad is exiting. The character was just recast when he had gone missing for a short time so they wondered if there would be a smooth transition. This often happens on soaps and now, EP, Frank Valentini is sharing what the status of Michael will be.
He took to Twitter/X to share an update about recasting the role and started by acknowledging that Chad Duell is leaving. Frank also praised the actor’s work as Michael and how much he loved working with Chad. However, he did state they do not plan to recast Michael but that is the plan right now. He did leave the door open for that to change at any time. Furthermore, Frank confirmed Chad will leave in early 2025.
Don’t Kill Michael
General Hospital fans are not thrilled with Frank Valentini after the way he disposed of Kelly Monaco. They even asked why he did not make a post like this for her when she was leaving:
- Why didn’t you make a post like this when Sam was killed?? Bc you are a dirty EP, you should be the one leaving. GH is in BIG trouble bc of you Frank. You are the worse.
Yet, they also asked him not to kill off Michael when it is time for Chad Duell to depart:
- Please tell me you’re not killing off the character?!
- You better not be killing off another one of Carly’s kids .. have Michael off finding himself if or when Chad wants to reprise his role or you eventually get a recast .. stop killing off all the legacy characters.
- The character Michael is essential to the GH story. Please find a recast and don’t even think of killing him off. We’re not too happy with you right now anyway.
It will be interesting to see what they choose to do with Michael and how he will leave Port Charles.
