It’s a tale as old as time. Adult daughter of U.S. president gets a job she’s in no way qualified for working in the White House, seemingly thinking it‘ll boost her standing with the rich and powerful. Daughter’s father becomes one of the most hated people in the world thanks to his cruel, corrupt, outrageous executive decisions, like the one to separate babies from their parents and the other to do next to nothing about a disease that’s killed more than a quarter million people in the U.S. Daughter is sad. Not because of the hateful policies her father has implemented but because they make her look bad by association, so bad that she might not be invited to the Met ball again. Daughter finds article that seemingly paints her father in a positive light, if one is unaware of any of the context surrounding it. Daughter strangely does not provide said context but does suggest she and her father are basically living saints and should probably star together on the next cover of Altruism Monthly:
Yes, that’s Ivanka Trump patting herself on the back for the news that changes at the Agriculture Department have led to more food-insecure people being able to redeem their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits at farmers’ markets, where they’re able to access fresh fruit and vegetables. Which is of course an extremely good thing! No one’s going to argue with that! The Trump administration looks slightly less good, however, with knowledge a minor detail Ivanka failed to add, which is that it tried to strip approximately 700,000 people of their SNAP benefits in the midst of a global pandemic. And that the only reason it didn’t end up doing so was because a judge intervened to these sick ghouls back in October. That story also showed up in The Washington Post but the first daughter must have missed it or we’re sure she would have posted it so people could get the full picture:
In combination with two other proposed rules from the Trump administration, the moves would have reportedly taken away SNAP benefits from an estimated 3.7 million people in an average month, reduced benefits for millions more, and resulted in 982,000 students losing automatic access to free or reduced-price school meals. Just something to think about next time Mother Teresa–Trump wants credit for all the good she’s supposedly done.
