The Dr. is out … of the hospital.
Dr. Dre, the 55-year-old rapper, producer, and entrepreneur, is back home recovering after suffering a brain aneurysm, according to reports. He was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on January 5th. Though now home, he currently remains under round-the-clock care of physicians.
TMZ says their sources believe Dre will not have a “bad outcome” from the incident. Aneurysms of this type result in death roughly half the time, with two out of three sufferers
left with permanent neurological difficulties.
Word of his release from the hospital was made public by a friend, none other than Ice-T, who said that Dre was “safe and looking good.”
It has been quite an eventful few weeks in Dr. Dre’s life, beyond his medical emergency. On Jan 6, his first full day under hospital surveillance, his home was targeted by burglars. Investigators found that the burglars were unable to break into his Brentwood home, and nothing was stolen. Initial reports suggested that Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, who owns a home nearby, may have been the initial target, but this is apparently not the case.
The musician is also in the midst of a divorce from his wife Nicole Young. Days before his medical incident, she made allegations of physical abuse. Responding to Nicole’s declaration, Dre told the court that “at no time did I ever abuse Nicole or threaten her physical safety.”
Earlier this week the courts ordered Dre to make a $2 million payment to Young for expenses through April.
