Lesbian icon and football star Megan Rapinoe has offered to be Joe Biden’s vice president, and we’d really love to see it.

Rapinoe interviewed 2020 democratic nominee Joe Biden in an Instagram live on Thursday, April 30, alongside his wife Jill who was sporting a purple streak in her hair “in solidarity with pay equity”.

The couple said they had been campaigning via Zoom, using a studio in their house, but Biden admitted: “I miss seeing people, looking in someone’s eyes and hearing their concerns is how I get my information. But we’ve adapted to this way of communication.”

He added: “I’ve not left the yard yet, but I always have my mask on… We do a live chat once a week with the whole family.”

Rapinoe, who has long been involved in politics, said that although she originally endorsed Elizabeth Warren, her main priority was policy.

She said: “The presidency only lasts for a finite amount of time but the policies will have generational effects.”

The lesbian icon said that the coronavirus pandemic has allowed Americans to “see a lot of the republican politics for what they are”, and that this revelation could prove to be an “incredible gift moving forward”.

Joe Biden is “disappointed” with Donald Trump’s coronavirus response.

Joe Biden said he was “very disappointed” by the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “First and foremost, as president of the United States, you have to take responsibility. This is a national crisis, he’s the commander-in-chief.

“He said it’s like we’re at war and we are, but all of our colonels and our generals and our sergeants are doctors and nurses, first responders, fire fighters. And they’re getting left behind.”

Megan Rapinoe said she could play football and be US vice president.

Towards the end of their conversation, Megan Rapinoe came up with a proposition.

She said: “I think I could still play soccer and do this, but if you need a vice president… I’m just saying I’m available for an interview, we can talk logistics and, you know, put it on your list, no pressure.”

Jill immediately cried: “I would love that! Every young girl in this country is saying ‘yes, choose her, choose Megan!’”

Biden also seemed keen, and said: “Think what you’ve done, Megan… It’s all about the team. It’s about a team, and you get it. You treat the other teammates with respect. I really mean it, it’s a gigantic thing.”
