For the first time since 2009, Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be the musical guests on Saturday Night Live. The band will perform on the NBC program on the December 17 episode, hosted by Elvis star Austin Butler. Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ appearance will follow Brandi Carlile’s December 10 performance and SZA’s December 3 slot as the musical guest.

Karen O and Yeah Yeah Yeahs returned earlier this year with Cool It Down, their first new album since 2013’s Mosquito. The record was led by the single “Spitting Off the Edge of the World,” featuring Perfume Genius. The new LP is up for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards, and the song got nominated for Best Alternative Music Performance.

On the April 11, 2009, episode of Saturday Night Live, Yeah Yeah Yeahs played Fever to Tell’s iconic “Maps,” as well as “Zero” from the then-new record It’s Blitz! The episode was hosted by Zac Efron.
