Tangerine Dream Announce 10-Album Box Set

Music

Tangerine Dream have announced a new 10xCD box set, which covers the material they released on Virgin Records in the early 1980s. Pilots of Purple Twilight – The Virgin Recordings 1980 – 1983 is out October 30 via UMC/EMI.

The collection includes the band’s albums Tangram, Thief, Exit, White Eagle, Logos Live, and Hyperborea, as well as a book and a swath of previously unreleased material. The latter includes live recordings from a 1982 show in London, unreleased soundtracks to 1982’s The Soldier and 1983’s The Keep, and material from the Risky Business soundtrack.

In addition to the larger set, the band’s six studio albums from the era will receive remastered CD reissues that come with bonus tracks. The new collection follows an earlier reissue of the band’s Virgin catalog—last year’s seven-disc In Search of Hades: The Virgin Recordings 1973-1979.
