Gays, assemble! Robyn announced Monday afternoon (August 3) that she’s dropping new music on Wednesday, proving once again that winning is a full-time job for the LGBT+ community.

Gay Twitter scrambled to get out of stale Zoom meetings or stopped uploading a quarantine thirst trap to take to Twitter so they could be the first to write, in all-caps, that the Swedish pop singer is “saving music”.

Indeed, this year we’ve already been blessed with new music from Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift, as well as announcements of new albums from Kylie Minogue and Lana Del Rey, too. It’s a good year to be queer.

Robyn had one clear message for her 367,700 followers: That she well and truly does not care about the American date notation system.

“5/8,” she tweeted, alongside a teaser of a new track playing to a vapour wave-style waves.

LGBT+ Robyn stans sent into overdrive as singer teases August 5 new music release date.

Her comment plunged countless Americans into crisis, wondering why Robyn was announcing a new song that is releasing, they thought, on May 8.

Robyn, who invented LGBT+ rights when she sang “Dancing On My Own”, pretty much sent her entire fanbase into full-on stan mode after announcing her first new music since 2018’s Honey
