Polaris Prize 2023 Short List: Alvvays, Feist, Daniel Caesar, More

The Sadies, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, and Debby Friday are also up for the Canadian album of the year award

The Polaris Music Prize, an annual award celebrating Canada’s albums of the year, has announced its shortlist today. Alvvays, Feist, and Daniel Caesar are up for awards. See all the shortlisted nominees below. The winner of the $50,000 prize will be announced on September 19 at Massey Hall in Toronto. 

Selected writers, programmers, and broadcasters determine the nominees; this year’s includes 205 people, who considered 221 albums and winnowed them to a longlist before today’s 10-album announcement. Last year, Pierre Kwenders won the prize for his album José Louis and the Paradox of Love.
