Paramore Cut Tour Short, Citing Hayley Williams’ Lung Infection

“My lungs are just not healing quickly enough to keep up,” Williams wrote after the band’s Seattle show. “It got a little scary tonight.”

Paramore have cut short their North American tour behind This Is Why so Hayley Williams can recover from a lung infection, the frontwoman wrote on her Instagram story. Two weeks ago the shows in question—in Portland, Oregon, and Salt Lake City, Utah—had been postponed until this week, but this time, those dates were canceled altogether. “My lungs are just not healing quickly enough to keep up,” Williams wrote after last night’s Seattle show. “It got a little scary tonight.”

After saying that playing the dates would come “at a detriment to [her] health,” Williams continued, “I know some of you are camping in Portland already so I just wanted to get this out there. I’m so sorry for all the chaos this has caused some of you. I really tried to kick this shit. Love you all.”

Williams elaborated in an official statement on the band’s social media, writing, “I physically can not go on.” She had hoped that a week off and a “strict medicine routine” would help her heal, she said, but she was “now risking long term damage.” Refunds will be available at the point of purchase, she added.
