The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards has announced its nominations, with Taylor Swift and SZA leading the pack with eight and six nominations each. Both were recognized in the Video of the Year category, for “Anti-Hero” and “Kill Bill,” respectively. Trailing them are Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sam Smith and Kim Petras, all of whom are tied with five nominations. The ceremony takes place on September 12 at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center. Check out all the nominations below. 

There are 35 artists who are first-time nominees this year, including Boygenius, GloRilla, Ice Spice, PinkPantheress, Flo Milli, Reneé Rapp, and Peso Pluma, among others. Additional 2023 VMAs nominees include Lana Del Rey, Bad Bunny, Shakira, Janelle Monae, Paramore, Blackpink, Adele, Rosalía, Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Diddy, Karol G, Tomorrow X Together, and Metallica. 

Beyoncé is nominated for Artist of the Year. Since she did not release any music videos surrounding the release of Renaissance, she is not nominated for any other awards.
