Kathleen Hanna has announced that she’s releasing a memoir next year: Rebel Girl: My Life as a Feminist Punk is out Tuesday, May 14, 2024, via Ecco (a HarperCollins imprint). The book will follow Hanna’s story from childhood to her college years in Olympia, Washington. The announcement lists some of what’s covered in her book: her connections with her bandmates, living with Lyme disease, her friendships with Kurt Cobain and Ian MacKaye, and falling in love with the Beastie Boys’ Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz. Over the past few years, Hanna has reunited and performed with Bikini Kill and Le Tigre. She released two albums in the past decade with her band the Julie Ruin. A documentary about her life, The Punk Singer, was released in 2013.
