DMX and Snoop Dogg’s Verzuz Battle: Here’s What Happened

Music

DMX and Snoop Dogg went head-to-head in the latest Verzuz battle tonight (July 22). During the match, both men ran through their hits, praising each other and jumping on each other’s songs the entire time. DMX said he was inspired by Snoop to write “Get at Me Dog,” and later, sang along to Nate Dogg’s hook on “Ain’t No Fun.” See a play-by-play of each round, and listen to the playlist on Tidal below.

The Verzuz beat battle series was launched by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. Each contestant in the battle plays a snippet of their music, and the Instagram Live audience scores each song (this continues for 20 rounds). The ultimate goal is to determine whose back catalog reigns supreme. Other Verzuz battles have included Boi-1da vs. Hit-Boy, Fabolous vs. Jadakiss, 8. Ludacris vs. Nelly, T-Pain vs. Lil Jon, and more.

Earlier this year, Snoop Dogg launched his wine brand (Snoop Cali Red) in collaboration with Australian brand 19 Crimes. Read Pitchfork’s Sunday Review of DMX’s It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, and read up on “The Best and Worst of Rap This Week” on the Pitch.
