DJ Premier and 2 Chainz have linked up for a new song called “Mortgage Free.” It marks the first time they’ve worked together in three years, following PRhyme’s 2018 single “Flirt.” Check out the new song below.

“Since 2 Chainz joined Royce and I on PRhyme 2’s ‘Flirt,’ I returned the love back by sending him a beat while he was in the Bahamas with Statik Selektah earlier this year recording for various projects.” he explained in a statement, “I sent him the beat and he sent it back to me the same night.”

2 Chainz added, “The record is a reflection of my reality and I feel like an artist’s responsibility is to give the listener some game from time to time. So here’s my free game.”

2 Chainz’s last album, the star-studded So Help Me God, came out in 2020. Since then, he dropped a music video for “Grey Area” featuring his dog Trappy, got an ESPN+ documentary about his history as a basketball player, and stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform his single “Can’t Go for That.”

The producer has stayed busy these past few years with collaborations, too. He appeared on Run the Jewels’ “Ooh La La,” teamed up with Westside Gunn for “The Narcissist,” and hopped on Armani Caesar’s track “Simply Done” with Benny the Butcher. He also produced Public Enemy’s single “State of the Union (STFU)” in 2020. In addition, “Mortgage Free” marks DJ Premier’s fourth single in his series for Payday Records.
