Def Jam Recordings Releases August 08’s Posthumous Album: Listen

Pretend It’s Okay arrives a year after the Los Angeles musician’s death at the age of 31

Def Jam Recordings has released a new album from the late Los Angeles musician August 08. The 10-song album, Pretend It’s Okay, features guest spots from Channel Tres, Kiah Victoria, and Mark Lux. Listen to the new album, and watch the new video for “Egotrip,” below.

August 08 died last year at the age of 31. Pretend It’s Okay is the first posthumous release from the musician, and it follows 2022’s Seasick.

Following August 08’s death, Def Jam Recordings shared in a statement, “The entire Def Jam family mourns the tragic loss of Ray ‘August 08’ Jacobs. A brilliant songwriter, an accomplished musician and a singular artist, August will remain in our memory as a beloved colleague and friend. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.”
