Charli XCX has posted a tribute to her late friend and collaborator SOPHIE, the influential producer who recently died at age 34. “It’s really hard for me to sum up the special connection I felt with such an amazing person who completely changed my life,” Charli wrote. “There are so many memories, so many small details, so many different views and incredible feelings and stories. It’s impossible to summarize the journey I went on with Sophie.”
The statement closes: “She taught me so much about myself without even realizing. I wish I had told her more how special she was, not just her music, but her as a person. I love you and I will never forget you Sophie.” Read the full statement below.
Charli and SOPHIE’s first notable collaboration was the pop singer’s Vroom Vroom EP, issued in 2016. That release helped set the tone for the collaborations to follow: Together, they made songs for Number 1 Angel (“Roll With Me,” “Lipgloss”) and Pop 2 (“Out of My Head”).
