Angel Bat Dawid to Premiere New Work With Marshall Allen at 2022 NYC Winter Jazzfest

The annual festival returns after a pandemic-related hiatus

Angel Bat Dawid is the artist-in-residence at the 2022 NYC Winter Jazzfest. The festival runs January 13-22 at various New York venues. One night, Dawid will debut a new performance called “Afro-Town Topics: A Mythological Afrofuturist Revue” with Sun Ra Arkestra’s Marshall Allen. The show premieres on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Monday, January 17) at Roulette in Brooklyn.

Over 10 nights of programming, NYC Winter Jazzfest will feature performances from the likes of Georgia Anne Muldrow, Terence Blanchard, Ben LaMar Gay, Jaimie Branch, Makaya McCraven, Samara Joy, Fay Victor and Kate Gentile, and Pino Palladino and Blake Mills, who will perform their album Notes With Attachments live for the first time. Angel Bat Dawid released her debut LP The Oracle in 2019. The next year, she and tha Brothahood released Live.
