Sylvester Stallone took to social media this week, revealing that he sees the gym as his “sanctuary.” At the age of 79, the Rocky star admitted that workouts don’t get any easier as he gets older, but shared a positive message with fans.

Stallone posted a video on Instagram from inside his gym, showing fans he’s still hard at work training. The Expendables lead addresses the camera, showing off his physique in a black vest. “I haven’t done a video from the gym in a long time. It’s kind of like, in a way, a sanctuary, a church,” he chuckles. “We pray we will get better. To feel better physically.”

We also get a sneak peek at the Hollywood star’s gym setup. The floor is covered in foam mats, it’s spacious, and there’s a large exercise mat at his feet. He also briefly shows off one of his punching bags, fitting for the star of one of the most influential boxing stories on the silver screen.

The Tulsa King actor, who turns 80 in July, wrote a brief message which reads, “Every year it gets harder and harder, but that’s why you gotta push harder and harder. Blood sweat and tears.” Stallone signs off, telling his viewers they have “the strength to arrive at your goals. Feeling confident and ready to face any challenge.”

The post quickly garnered over 350,000 views and almost 10,000 comments. Many fans are quick to point out how good the Rambo star looks. Others agree with his sentiment about the gym, with several calling him an inspiration.

Jeff Cavaliere from Athlean X, famous for gym content on multiple platforms, replied, “The person who ignited the spark in me to make fitness my passion 40 years ago…and now STILL inspiring me to never turn back. Much gratitude to you my friend. You changed me and my life in ways you may never fully know.”

Earlier this month, Grudge Match, starring Stallone and Robert De Niro, arrived on Paramount+. The action flick failed to wow audiences at the box office back in 2013, and only just managed to make a profit on its $40 million budget. However, the boxing movie became a hit on the streaming service, ranking above the PAW Patrol: The Movie on January 16.

Stallone’s Rocky biopic, I Am Rocky, is scheduled for release in November 2026. The date is especially significant, as it marks the 50th anniversary of the first movie in the iconic series.
