Netflix leads the pack in the Golden Globes noms for 2024 on both the TV and film side, while A24 and HBO are well represented.
Overall, Netflix picked up 23 TV nominations and 13 film, totaling 36. The streamer was helped along by Emilia Pérez landing 10, comfortably the most nominated pic. On the TV side, multiple noms were meted out to Baby Reindeer, Nobody Wants This and Ripley, while Squid Game Season 2 picked up one before Boxing Day premiere. Last year, Netflix had the same number of motion pic noms but fewer TV, with 15, coming in second behind HBO on the small screen side.
While none of its TV fare was recognized, A24 beat its tally from last year by landing 12 nods in the movie categories. Seven of these went to The Brutalist, Brady Corbet’s pic about a Jewish architect who survives the Holocaust and emigrates to the U.S. There were also nods for the likes of Babygirl, Heretic and A Different Man.
HBO’s strong haul of 14 came in the TV category a year after the conclusion of awards darling Succession, with the likes of The Penguin, True Detective and Hacks all recognized multiple times.
FX and Hulu picked up 10 TV nominations while there were plenty on the movie side for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pics and Searchlight. Amazon MGM Studios picked up four and streamer Prime Video had three for TV.
Apple TV+ equalled its nine from last year, helped by Slow Horses and Alfonso Cuarón’s Disclaimer on the TV side but picking up zero in film.
The Golden Globes noms were unveiled this morning in LA. The ceremony takes place January 5, hosted by Nikki Glaser.
