Deadline has confirmed that the Glen Powell-starring erotic sci-fi twist thriller Homewreckers is landing at Legendary after an intense auction. The deal isn’t 100% done yet, but it’s close.

The package is based on a novella by Neil Paik, who is attached to adapt. Powell, who just earned his first Golden Globe nomination for Hit Man in the Best Actor – Comedy/Musical slot, is producing.

The Dune and Godzilla Monsterverse producer beat out Lionsgate, New Regency, Sony and Warner Bros in the pursuit for Homewreckers. The deal is said to be in the seven-figure range for story rights, as well as seven-figure deal for Paik to write and produce.

Paik is writing The Bombshell Bandit, based on a BBC article, for Amazon MGM Studios, and Atlas, with Priyanka Chopra attached to star. Currently, he’s also set to make his feature directing debut with Windowshopper, based on his short story.

Powell has had a great 2024 with the carryover success of rom-com Anyone But You, a $103 million profitable cash cow for Sony with a $220M global gross and $25M production cost, as well as the big summer success of Twisters which grossed $371M around the world.

Powell is also set to star in JJ Abrams’ upcoming untitled sci-fi fantasy with Jenna Ortega. He’ll roll right into that movie this spring in London after he wraps Paramount and Edgar Wright’s reboot of The Running Man, which features cameos by Powell family members.

Legendary recently cut ties with Sony in regards to it output deal and has been busy with Warner Bros on future Dune and Godzilla movies. Legendary’s live-action/hybrid road movie Animal Friendswhich was originally at Sony, is now at Warners with an October 10, 2025 release date. That movie stars Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, Addison Rae, Dan Levy, Lil Rel Howery and Ellie Bamber.
