Here’s your first look at Black Bag, the globetrotting spy drama from Steven Soderbergh.

The high-stakes flick stars Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender alongside Regé-Jean Page, Marisa Abela, Naomie Harris, Tom Burke, and Pierce Brosnan.

The official synopsis describes the film as a gripping spy drama about legendary intelligence agent George Woodhouse and his beloved wife Kathryn. When she is suspected of betraying the nation, George faces the ultimate test – loyalty to his marriage or his country.

Focus Features will release the flick on March 14.  The producers on the film are Casey Silver and Greg Jacobs. David Koepp wrote the screenplay. Soderbergh most recently teamed with Koepp on Presence, which world premiered at Sundance 2024.  Lucy Liu stars in that film with Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang, Julia, Fox, Eddy Maday, and West Mulholland.

Soderbergh is currently on a busy run. Earlier this month, we reported that the director cast Ian McKellen (Lord of the Rings franchise), Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You), and James Corden (Gavin & Stacey) in his next film The Christophers. The film goes into production in London in February.

The Christophers is a dark comedy about the estranged children of a once-famous artist who hires a forger to complete his unfinished works so they can be discovered and sold after his death. The script is by Ed Solomon, Soderbergh’s collaborator on the 2021 crime thriller No Sudden Move, Max miniseries Full Circle, HBO murder mystery Mosaic (released as both a series and a mobile app), and Bill & Ted Face the Music (which Soderbergh exec produced).
