Angelica Ross’ romantic misfortunes deserve their own Pose subplot.

The Pose star and activist took to Twitter on Wednesday, March 18, to announce that she had met someone special in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Finally found him and have to distance myself from him,” she wrote. “An early test we’re committed to passing. I miss you B.”

Just over 24 hours later she returned to social media, this time revealing that her would-be boyfriend was actually engaged and had a child.

“The internet is AMAZING,” she tweeted.

“I’ve been talking to the mother of his son and fiancé all morning. Plot twist!”

For those who were confused, she retweeted a fan’s explanation that after Ross had shared her new beau with the world, “Twitter FBI probably saw the tweet and told Angelica this man has a kid and is engaged.”

Despite her heartbreak, Ross managed to see the funny side of the situation.

The actor, who also had a major role in the latest season of American Horror Story, said she would “spill the full tea” on her Instagram Live.

She later realised she was “not in any condition” to discuss the details, and instead would “pray about it instead”.

Ross’ friend, the ballroom start-turned actor Amiyah Scott, promised “we can stab & talk about him later”, once Ross has digested her emotions.

Angelica Ross had a history-making 2019.

Last year Angelica Ross became the first-ever openly trans actor to score series regular roles on two TV shows: Pose and American Horror Story: 1984.

She also made history as the first trans woman to host a presidential forum, back when the field of Democratic candidates was still relatively dense.

Ross quizzed then-presidential hopefuls including Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg as well as current frontrunner Joe Biden, but not Bernie Sanders, who missed the event.

He cited scheduling conflicts, but was also suffering ill health at the time.
