Former President Barack Obama has urged voters to be patient while awaiting poll results, stating via X ,”It takes time to count every ballot.”

“It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either,” Obama wrote. “So please keep a few things in mind as you make your voice heard today:
– Thousands of election workers around the country are working hard today. Respect them. Thank them.
– Don’t share things before checking your sources.
– Let the process run its course. It takes time to count every ballot.”

Meanwhile, the campaign for Kamala Harris has released a timeline of when supporters should expect results (shown in a tweet below).

Poll sites across parts of Indiana and in the eastern district of Kentucky have closed as of 6 P.M., Eastern Standard Time.

More polls are set to close at 7 P.M., Eastern Standard Time. These include most parts of Florida, as well as all of the following states: AZ, AL, CO, GA, HI, IL, KS, MO, MS, NE (for Mountain Time), NV, NM, OK, SC, SD, TN (for areas in Central Time), TX, VT, VI, and WY. Polls will close at 7:30 p.m. in AR, NC, OH, and WV.

Polls will close at 8:00 p.m. in AK, CA, CO, DE, DC, ID, IO, LO, MA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MT, NE (for Central Time), NJ, OR, PA, RI, TN (for Eastern Time), UT, WA, and WI. Polls will close at 9:00 p.m. in NY.
