In spite of the furious conservative backlash, all 666 of Lil Nas X’s limited edition Satan shoes have sold out in under a minute.

The red and black Nike Air Max 97 trainers include a gold pentagram and are made with 60 cubic centimetres of red ink, plus one single drop of human blood.

They carried a hefty price tag of $1,018 a pair, a reference to the Bible passage Luke 10:18 written on the side: “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”

In total the controversial footwear brought in nearly $700,000 for the “Old Town Road” singer  – but his clapback to the haters was truly priceless.

“Y’all talked so much sh*t about these shoes just for them to sell out in literally less than one minute. lmao y’all going out SAD!” Lil Nas X wrote on Twitter.

He followed it up with: “I thought y’all didn’t like political correctness. What happened?”

Since unveiling the Satan-themed shoes the star has been hit with a slew of criticism from angry conservatives blaming him for the literal downfall of society.

South Dakota governor Kristi Noem moaned: “Our kids are being told that this kind of product is, not only OK, it’s ‘exclusive’. But do you know what’s more exclusive? Their God-given eternal soul.

“We are in a fight for the soul of the nation. We need to fight hard. And we need to fight smart. We have to win.”

Lil Nas X replied unapologetically: “Ur a whole governor and u on here tweeting about some damn shoes. Do ur job!”

As the Bible-bashing intensified over the weekend, the singer hit back at his critics in an iconic video titled “Lil Nas X Apologises for Satan Shoe”.

“OK guys, I see everybody’s been talking about this shoe and I just want to come forward and say–” he says in the video, which then cuts to a clip of himself grinding on Satan in his glorious music video.

And that’s how it’s done.
