Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness has revealed the happy news that he quietly married his “best friend” during 2020.

In an Instagram post summing up events during the past year that he felt thankful for, Van Ness revealed that he had tied the knot with partner Mark Peacock.

He wrote: “Thank you universe for allowing me to be here and thanks to everyone who has supported me.

“2020 was a year unlike any other. I got to campaign and get more involved politically. I finished my tour in Australia and New Zealand for what I didn’t know would be my last standup show for who knows how long.

“I got married to my best friend and have a loving partner to continue building my life with.”

Van Ness later added on Twitter: “Surprise! We got married in the backyard of a house we rented over the summer with a socially distanced judge and a photographer. Our parents watched over FaceTime.

“Love my Mark and we’re so happy to share this news. Happy New Year!”

The 33-year-old‘s new spouse also shared the news on Instagram and revealed a new addition to their family – Pablo the Jack Russell.

Peacock, who was born in London before moving to the US, wrote: “2020 brought on more changes than I’ve ever been a part of before.

“I left London and moved across the Atlantic, got dressed up for numerous seriously hilarious zoom quizzes, re-discovered a love for gardening, learned to drive on the left, got married to my soulmate and one true love Jonathan Van Ness and adopted a little Jack Russell called Pablo and entered a family with 4 amazing cats.”

Fans were ecstatic, with one telling Van Ness on Twitter: “WHAAAAT!? I could not be happier for another human! Literally just started jumping and screaming in my living room.”

“I love everything about this,” wrote another. “So happy for you and Mark! May you have joy and love from now until the end of time.”
