A grieving mother in Nashville, Tennessee has demanded justice for her 17-year-old daughter, who was shot and killed last week.

Ashanti ‘Ace’ Posey, 17, was driving with another person in the city on April 9 when she was fatally shot.

Police investigating the incident have alleged that her death the shooting came shortly after the pair had been selling marijuana.

However, the teen’s mother Amber Posey has questioned the claim.

Grieving mother says she believes her daughter was killed out of ‘jealousy’

She told WTVF: “My daughter worked two jobs at 17-years-old, two jobs. She wouldn’t got a second job if she was a street kid, that’s just not what street kids do, they don’t try to make money the honest way.”

“My daughter was a caring child, it was just that simple. If you believed in what she believed in, you were her family.”

She claimed of the murder: “This was out of jealousy because my daughter was openly gay and in a happy relationship with a young lady for two years.

“Sometimes being different is not accepted in society, it’s just not.”

Posey said she would do whatever it takes to find justice for her daughter, adding: “I don’t care if you gave the person the gun, if you gave them gas money to get where my baby was, I will bring you down.”

Tributes to ‘bright and thoughtful’ student after death

Hillsboro High School, which the teen had attended, said in a statement: “Ashanti was bright and thoughtful student and a member of the Lady Burros basketball team.

“The Hillsboro High family is devastated by the news of her death, and our hearts go out to her family and friends.

“We’ll be doing everything we can to offer support to her fellow Hillsboro students to process their emotions and grief during this difficult time.”
