You know what’s more exciting than Art the Clown returning to theaters for Terrifier 3? Terrifier 3 earning over $55 million globally at the box office, making it the highest-grossing unrated film of all time!

As noted by Bloody Disgusting, the previous film that held the title was Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, which earned $43 million worldwide in 2023. Now, Terrifier 3 has snatched the trophy and joins the ranks of just three other horror films that hit the $50 million global box office mark this year: Longlegs, Alien: Romulus, and A Quiet Place: Day One. As of the publication of this post, Terrifer 3 has also grossed $44 million domestically.

In the latest in clown terror:

After surviving Art the Clown’s Halloween massacre, Sienna and her brother are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives. As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind. But just when they think they’re safe, Art the Clown returns, determined to turn their holiday cheer into a new nightmare.

Writer and director Damien Leone celebrated on Twitter with the below tweet:

No matter your opinion on Art’s debauchery, this is a massive win for the horror genre, especially when it comes to indie horror. All three Terrifier films were made on small budgets and still packed massive, bloody punches despite their limitations. And now the films continue to dominate at the box office, proving the power of horror.

Terrifier 2 previously set records in 2022 with its box office earnings of $15.7 million worldwide.

If you haven’t caught it yet, Terrifier 3 is still playing in theaters.
