‘Sinister’ Actor James Ransone Re-Teaming With Scott Derrickson for Horror Movie ‘The Black Phone’

Horror

Scott Derrickson (Dr. Strange, Sinister) is headed back to the horror genre to direct The Black Phone for Blumhouse and Universal, and the film was already a Sinister reunion with Ethan Hawke recently joining the cast. On top of that, THR reports tonight, Hawke’s Sinister co-star James Ransone (It: Chapter Two) has also signed on to reunite with Derrickson.

The cast also includes Jeremy Davies (“Hannibal”), Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw.

Derrickson and frequent collaborator Robert Cargill (Bermuda, Doctor Strange, Sinister) adapted the script based on Joe Hill’s short story.

Cargill recently teased the plot, “A kidnapped kid. A creepy, soundproofed basement. An ancient, disconnected phone. Then, when night falls, the phone rings.”

Derrickson, Cargill and Jason Blum, for Blumhouse, are producing the film. Universal and Blumhouse will present the Crooked Highway Productions. Joe Hill is an executive producer
