Started in 2017, the Renegade Film Festival has been dedicated to embracing diverse filmmakers, honoring their vision, and elevating their voices to bring balance to independent cinema. And they’re continuing that tradition with their 2025 festival slate, including their feature film programming, which was just recently announced!

Renegade Film Festival will screen the following features as part of the 2025 program in February:

  • Bloody Bridget (Georgia Premiere)- written & directed by Richard Elfman
  • House of Ashes (Georgia Premiere) – written & directed by Izzy Lee
  • Puppet Killer (Georgia Premiere) – written & directed by Lisa Ovies
  • The Protos Experiment (Georgia Premiere) – written by Simon Clark & Brian Avenet-Bradley and directed by Lo & Brian Avenet-Bradley
  • The Rebrand (Georgia Premiere) – written by Nancy Webb & Kaye Adelaide & directed by Kaye Adelaide

Bloody Bridget will be screening as part of a special double feature with the 40th Anniversary of the classic Stuart Gordon film Re-Animator, starring 2025 Horror Icon recipient Barbara Crampton. The film features a ‘scream out loud’ performance by burlesque performer and actress Anastasia Elfman, accompanied by original music by Danny Elfman and Ego Plum. Both films share the work of producer Brian Yuzna, the man behind such films as Society, The Beyond, and the 2023 hit Suitable Flesh.

Renegade alum Izzy Lee is back with her feature directorial debut, House of Ashes starring Fayna Sanchez. Other alumni returning to the fest are 2018 feature film winners Brian & Lo Avenet-Bradley with Echoes of Fear starring Trista Robinson. This time they’re bringing a taste of sci-fi with The Protos Experiment based on the novel by Simon Clark. Filmmaker Kaye Adelaide is also back with her feature mockumentary The Rebrand starring Naomi Silver-Vèzina, Nancy Webb, and Andi E McQueen.

Many of the filmmakers will be in attendance to celebrate each other’s accomplishments, including Mexican-Canadian filmmaker Lisa Ovies, who will be sharing her perspective as a queer woman making films and creating opportunities for other female-identifying creators through her company Rogue Studios in Vancouver.

Submissions for the 2025 Renegade Film Festival are open through January 18th, 2025 exclusively through Film Freeway. Tickets will go on sale starting February 1st through the Strand box office. The festival will take place on Friday, February 21, and Saturday, February 22, culminating with the awards ceremony on Saturday evening at the Strand Theatre in Marietta, GA.
