Randy’s Legacy Lives On: New ‘Scream’ Movie Features Two Members of the Meeks Family

Horror

Bloody Disgusting loves Barbara Crampton, an icon in the horror industry who is not only a celebrated actor but also a producer on many projects. After starring in several 80s classics from Re-Animator (also available on Screambox) to From Beyond, Chopping Mall, and Castle Freak, Crampton made her return in the slasher classic You’re Next, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, as well as The Lords of Salem, We Are Still Here, Sun Choke, Tales of Halloween, Road Games, Beyond the Gates, “Channel Zero”, “Into the Dark”, “Creepshow”, among many, many, many others.

Last month, Bloody Disgusting took the reigns on the newly-relaunched Screambox, a subscription-based streaming platform loaded with movies that also hosts our live channel, BDTV. We have such sights to show you over the next year, but today, we’re digging deep into our catalog with Barbara Crampton, who curates five films she’d have pulled straight off the video store shelf!

Go straight to her picks here. Which one are you watching first?

Deep Red

“A slasher with sorority girls, great scares and suspense! The juxtaposition of Christmas cheer and impending doom with fantastic cinematography makes this a holiday classic. A stellar cast offers joyous watching upon repeated viewings- with Margot Kidder, Olivia Hussey, John Saxon and Keir Dullea!”

House on Haunted Hill

“One of my favorite William Castle films with the always essential Vincent Price. Mysterious and atmospheric albeit slightly campy, this creepy movie is delightful light fun with just enough mystery to keep you guessing.”

The Taking of Deborah Logan

The Taking of Deborah Logan

“A kind of documentary accounting of a woman succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease. There are other things at play too, with some harrowing supernatural occurrences, leaving the viewer highly unnerved throughout. This film is super scary with [director] Adam Robitel and actress Jill Larsen giving us an unforgettable tale of aging, terror and possession.”

Society

Brian Yuzna‘s best film, which through the years has become even more relevant, as our culture falls deeper into decay with class and financial divides. Starts off fun and light with a teenager played by Billy Warlock, feeling out of place within his family. As clues are uncovered, he finds that his brethren is another species altogether. Where this film goes in the third act has to be experienced to be believed. A sort of coming-out party showcases gruesome body horror and wild orgy feasting moments. It is graphically glorious and wildly stunning in its unabashed glorious gore while still managing to say something interesting about the things that continue to separate humanity from itself.”

Subscriptions include unlimited movies and shows, with no ads: Month to month pricing is $4.99, while you can get discounted rates at 3 months ($11.99) or one year ($39.99).
