George A. Romero’s ‘Martin’ Coming to 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray This Summer With New Restoration

Horror

Much like Dawn of the Dead, George A. Romero‘s 1977 horror movie Martin, centered on a man who believes he’s a vampire, is currently being restored by the UK’s Second Sight Films, who had originally announced a Blu-ray release for the near future. But the company has announced today that not only is Martin coming to Blu-ray, it’s also coming to 4K Ultra HD.

Second Sight tweets, “Following a lot of discussion and some logistical delays we finally have news on Martin. Originally intended as Blu-ray only will now be 4K UHD.”

Working on 4K restoration for late summer release,” they add.

To be clear, a Blu-ray release is also still planned.

In the 1977 movie, released one year prior to Dawn of the Dead, “A young man (John Amplas), who believes himself to be a vampire, goes to live with his elderly and hostile cousin in a small Pennsylvania town where he tries to redeem his blood-craving urges.”
