Here are the coolest horror collectibles unveiled this week!


The Dead Zone 4K UHD from Scream Factory

The Dead Zone will be released on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on December 19 via Scream Factory. The 1983 Stephen King adaptation has been newly transferred in 4K from the original camera negative with Dolby Vision (HDR-10 compatible) and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 sound.

David Cronenberg (The Fly, Videodrome) directs from a script by Jeffrey Boam (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). Christopher Walken stars with Brooke Adams, Tom Skerritt, Herbert Lom, Anthony Zerbe, Colleen Dewhurst, and Martin Sheen.

Filmmaker Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep) and The Kingcast podcast hosts Eric Vespe and Scott Wampler recorded a new audio commentary for the release.

All the special features from Scream Factory’s 2021 Blu-ray edition are also included: commentaries with director of photography Mark Irwin and film historians; interviews with Adams, production manager John M. Eckert, and associate producer Jeffrey Chernov; archival featurettes; and more.


Return of the Living Dead Figure from Supercool Collective

Supercool Collective is adding The Return of the Living Dead’s Tarman to its BigHeadz line. The 7″ PVC figure is expected to ship in the first quarter of 2024.

In addition to the standard version, a glow-in-the-dark edition is available to pre-order through November 26. Either version costs $34.99, or you can get them autographed by special effects artists Tony Gardner and Bryan Christensen for $49.99.


Talk to Me Vinyl Soundtrack from A24

Talk to Me’s original motion picture soundtrack is available on vinyl for via A24. The score is composed by Cornel Wilczek (Clickbait) and features additional music by Thomas Rouch plus Richard Carter’s “Le Monde.”

Pressed on orange colored vinyl, the album is housed in a jacket featuring lenticular artwork by Matt Ryan Tobin. It costs $30 and is expected to ship in January.


Stand By Me Steelbook 4K UHD from Sony

Stand By Me will be released on Steelbook 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on December 5 via Sony. The 1986 coming-of-age film been remastered in 4K from the original camera negative with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos sound.

Based on Stephen King’s 1982 novella The Body, Rob Reiner (Misery, The Princess Bride) directs from a script by Bruce A. Evans & Raynold Gideon (Starman). Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, Kiefer Sutherland, Casey Siemaszko, John Cusack, and Richard Dreyfuss star.

Special features include: an audio commentary by Reiner; a video commentary by Reiner, Wheaton, and Feldman; “Walking the Tracks: The Summer of Stand By Me;” deleted and alternate scenes; and a music video.


Candy Cain Kills from Shortwave Publishing

Candy Cain Kills by Brian McAuley will be published in paperback and e-book on November 14. It’s the second installment in Shortwave Publishing’s retro horror-inspired Killer VHS series, following Alex Ebenstein’s Melon Head Mayhem.

The 172-page Christmas slasher novella features cover art by Marc Vuletich. Direct orders from Shortwave ($13.99) come with a Shortwave Video membership card and ship in a custom box based on a video rental case.
