Epic Games Announces ‘The Matrix Awakens’: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience for PS5 & Xbox Series!

Leaving the debate for Enter The Matrix‘s quality for another day, with The Matrix Resurrections not being that far off, Epic Games has released a pre-download for their tie-in, The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience, for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.

Serving as a technical demonstration of the power of the Unreal 5 engine with the current-gen consoles, the project was created by members of the The Matrix Resurrections team, alongside Epic Games and their partners. The project itself will be fully revealed this Thursday during The Game Awards.

Coincidentally, The Matrix Resurrections stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will be presenters at The Game Awards, so you can connect the dots as to what’s going to happen.

“Created by members of the original movie team including Lana Wachowski along with Epic Games and partners, ‘The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience‘ is a wild ride into the reality-bending universe of ‘The Matrix‘ that features performances by Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.”

Meanwhile, Lana Wachowski‘s The Matrix Resurrections arrives December 22 in theaters and on HBO Max. Alongside Reeves and Moss, Jada Pinkett SmithChristina RicciPriyanka ChopraYahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Eréndira Ibarra, Jessica Henwick and Neil Patrick Harris also star.

The Game Awards will stream December 9th at 8:00 p.m. EST.
